Top new gadget action!

Another long day today and into the office for half seven to bang out a few emails and see to this and that before driving a hundred odd miles to attend a rather jolly afternoon Awards do for the industry in which I remain another 2 weeks. Lucky with the weather and pre-lunch drinks were served on a sunny lawn affording a decent view of rather a lot of summer dresses and what have you. Every one was pretending to spot people from other firms but it was a total sham; men checking out women, women checking out men, and mixtures thereof! I don't know why people pretend.

Anyhow, my firm did well and had a clutch of gongs, including a woman I work with, and rather like bagging a Gold award for her department in our store in Devon. Hurrah! Prizes doled out by Mark Ramprakash who seemed an urbane fellow.

As the usual awards hoo-haa unfolded to the unimaginative 'Simply the Best' soundtrack, the chap on the mic' threw in the usual enticement of the Awards Do goodie bag, telling us there was a gadget worth thirty pounds (sixty dollars) in the bag this year. Cool! Maybe it would be an MP3 player or a budget end diggie cam'! I have been to a handful of these events and indeed I have organised the goodie bag a stack of times. Good gear = good retention of key facts; that's the rules.

Imagine my top smart delight at getting THIS, and imagine the poor m*****f****r who had to pack 300 of them into bags!

One should be grateful of course, and someone will find a use for it I suppose! Let me know if you want it and I'll Blog it to you.

you could use it to leave cutting remarks around the office, that won't be found until you leave...

'you are a total wanker dave' - under the kettle.

What sort of notes would you leave?

Hahahahaha! Now that *IS* a plan!
As it happens, 'Dave' is our numbers man (Dave the Save) and is a thoroughly good bloke, other than not sneaking my salary into the budget and that!

I am going to think on with this plan!

Maybe a note to the woman in the restaurant I like! Maybe a note under my chair that says 'Warning: occupants of this chair are not permanent' ?

PS - Miss M: F36 seems to have gone to ground!

maybe just pre-write a load that say 'cunt' and slap them onto peoples foreheads...

Walshers - nice subtle take on the plan!

And a further note:

'Warning! You may not have filled out a form in triplicate today. Please acknowledge!'

I'm not acquainted with F36, but I had noticed things had gone quiet.

It sounds like you could have hours of fun with your new toy!

Well I am not really acquainted very much with F36 either!

Lots of larks to be had with said new toy. It's a very simple business being a chap.

Will you write a note to 3PW with your new toy?

If you are thinking of disposing of it - do you know if this gadget works underwater?

I have been somewhat struggling to select a suitable birthday present for Q - understandably difficult when you look at the array of equipment he already possesses.

Where are the pictures of Ramprakash? Its surely your duty to provide these having drawn us to your blog simply by using his name.

Hi Patricia (gosh, I wonder if you are 'Exeter Patricia', in which case, you are more the welcome for it).

I had only heard of Mark R via cricket and did not know he had won Britain's Got Ice Talent Factor. He wore a sharp suit, had a great shirt and tie combo and had good shoes. I did not take any pics but will have some away from the web site of the 'do'. Mt friend who won an award from our Devon store said 'ooh, he was ever so good looking!' I was kinda' concentrating on the attractive women in the room, not the dishy chaps, don't you know.

Do you really feel that the ladies and gentlemen who represent their industry at professional events go along to 'check each other out'? (I'm assuming that the majority of attendees were above the age of something ending with 'teen'?!).

BS5 Blogger said...

No, I do not think they 'really' go along for that sole purpose and I respect the purpose of the day, but I suspect they do not entirely dismiss that reaction; not on today's evidence anyhow. I had a good time, it was a slick and professional affair and these are only irreverent observations regardless of people being tenns or otherwise. People won their categories with passion and zeal and it was a decent reflection of people's hard work, but steam was let off nevertheless.

I take it all back!

Glad you had a good day.

Anonymous: that was entirely gracious of you - thank you.
